Developing a High Street Heritage Action Zone in North Yorkshire

A collaboration with Hambleton District Council to explore Northallerton's High Street through 3D visualisations, an AR-driven digital tour and an touchscreen interactive within the Council's Heritage Hub.

A digital visualisation of a 19th century yard with a cobbled floor and brick-built outbuildings.

A project with Hambleton District Council (now subsumed into the new unitary authority of North Yorkshire Council) saw the development of 3D visualisations, a touchscreen interactive, and a map-based trail for the North Yorkshire market town of Northallerton, funded by Historic England's High Street Heritage Action Zone initiative.

A property on Northallerton's High Street was secured to host a Heritage Hub where an interactive touchscreen and historical curiosities from Northallerton were on display.

First Phase

We worked on developing several 3D visualisations that showed different points of the town throughout history, including the Medieval Bishop's Palace and Victorian Tickle Toby Yard.

Second Phase

The second phase of the project saw the development of a mobile app by Peel Interactive. They used resources which we had generated and others that YAT worked on to feed into a map based interactive trail of Northallerton.
